AI Software Engineer (m/f)

IT House is recruiting an AI Software Engineer for a client in the software modernization and digital transformation sector, based in Lisbon.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead by example in daily use of AI coding agents (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) across development, testing, and code review;
• Configure agent setups for the team: rules, instructions, prompt libraries, and reusable workflows;
• Share knowledge through demos, pair-programming, and workshops to build team confidence with AI tools;
• Develop, maintain, and evolve applications across modern (C#, .NET, React, TypeScript) and legacy stacks (COBOL, Delphi, PowerBuilder, FoxPro, WinDev);
• Use AI agents to write, review, test code, and analyze, document, and explain legacy systems and business rules;
• Contribute to modernization initiatives, planning and executing migrations from legacy to modern architectures;
• Design, develop, and maintain features; write clean, maintainable code following SOLID principles;
• Participate in code reviews and work with CI/CD pipelines and cloud environments;
• Support and mentor less experienced engineers in AI-assisted development practices.

PROFILE

• 4 to 6 years of professional software development experience;
• Proven hands-on experience with AI coding agents (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code), including configuration and rule management;
• Experience building agentic workflows, MCP servers, or custom AI tooling;
• Genuine openness to work with legacy technologies (COBOL, Delphi, PowerBuilder, FoxPro, WinDev);
• Solid experience with modern stack (C#/.NET and/or React/TypeScript/JavaScript);
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, and automated testing (unit, integration, E2E);
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile practices;
• Strong curiosity, analytical skills, clear communication, and ownership mindset;
• Fluent English (mandatory); French/Spanish a plus.
