About the job
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Crossian is a high-growth technology-driven e-commerce business. Behind our success is our people. As a start-up formed in 2020, we have created a fast-paced and dynamic environment, enabling our people to reach a cumulative average growth rate of over 1000% in the last 3 years. Our mission now is to build DTC brands and increase customer LTV by providing best-valued products backed by no nonsense customer service policies as Customer Centricity is at the core of our values.
We are now seeking a Technical designer to uphold our standards for excellence and drive customer satisfaction through your technical expertise, attention to detail, and leadership abilities. You will report directly to the Manager of Supply Chain Management and work closely with our fulfillment team and partnership factories.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Concept and feasibility
- Assess new concepts for construction, fabric, stretch, and cost before development starts.
- Source and recommend fabrics and trims for each line: denim and twill, performance knits, and stretch wovens. Check stretch, recovery, shrinkage, and pilling.
Pattern and fit development
- Build and maintain a base block per line, separately for men's and women's.
- Lead live-model fittings from proto to PP sample.
- Diagnose fit issues such as back-waist gaping, waistband rolling, short rise, seat pulling, inseam twist, and knee bagging, then fix them in the pattern.
- Fit for our core customer, women aged 45+: fuller midsection, flatter seat, and changes in hip and thigh shape.
Grading and sizing
- Build grade rules for men's (waist × inseam) and women's (standard and plus).
- Keep a customer's size consistent across cargo, jeans, active, and smart casual.
Denim and wash development
- Set shrinkage allowances and pattern compensation for washed and rigid denim.
- Work with mills and laundries on wash standards, colorfastness, and post-wash measurements.
Tech packs and production handoff
- Write complete tech packs: construction details, stitch and seam types, BOM, point-of-measure specs, and tolerances.
- Approve PP and size-set samples and brief factory technical teams before bulk.
- Resolve fit or construction root causes escalated by QA/QC during production.
Post-launch optimization
- Review return reasons, reviews, and CS tickets each month to find fit, sizing, and fabric problems.
- Turn findings into pattern, spec, or material changes and track whether return rates improve.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Design, or related field from a recognized university, preferably with a focus on garment technology.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience working with US or EU export apparel brands, ensuring adherence to international quality and production standards.
- Proven hands-on experience collaborating directly with R&D or Design teams during the product development stage to validate and develop samples/prototypes.
- Experience with both intimate wear and outerwear products is a plus.
- Expertise in garment fitting, construction, and pattern grading.
- Strong understanding of US and EU garment standards, including regulations and quality compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects within tight timelines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- A growth mindset with a focus on continuous learning, improvement, and innovation in the apparel industry.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
At Crossian, our people are the key to our success. We believe in creating an attractive total compensation package (TCP) that not only retains employees but allows them to excel in their profession. These include:
- Attractive Total Compensation package
- Full salary during probation
