Principal Software Engineer – Cloud Platform (Remote, Czech Republic)

For an engineer who wants to shape the architecture, not just follow it.

Some engineering roles offer technical ownership. Others offer the chance to build a team. This one combines both — without moving you away from hands-on engineering.

We are working on a Principal Software Engineer opportunity with a technology company building and evolving a cloud infrastructure platform. The focus is the control plane: the software and distributed services that help make cloud infrastructure reliable, scalable and manageable.

The role is intended for someone who enjoys working through complex technical problems, making architectural decisions and helping other engineers grow — rather than moving entirely into management.

What makes the role interesting?

• Architecture with real impact. Help shape the evolution of a cloud control plane and the distributed services behind it.
• Stay close to the technology. Expect a genuine hands-on engineering component, alongside technical leadership, design discussions and mentoring.
• Help grow the team. Contribute to expanding the engineering team in the Czech Republic, including hiring and developing several engineers.
• Work on infrastructure at the software engineering level. Kubernetes, Linux, distributed systems, cloud-native technologies and networking are central to the technical environment.
• Influence how engineering is done. Help establish technical direction, share knowledge and guide decisions beyond your individual contributions.

What would make you a good fit? You have a strong software engineering background and have worked on complex production systems where scalability, resilience and availability matter.

You likely bring experience in several of these areas:

• Distributed systems and cloud infrastructure
• Kubernetes, containers and cloud-native architectures
• Linux and networking fundamentals
• Go, ideally, or strong programming experience in another language
• Infrastructure automation, CI/CD and production services
• Technical leadership, architecture and mentoring

You don’t necessarily need to have held the title of Principal Engineer before. What matters more is the depth of your technical judgment, the systems you have helped build, and your ability to influence engineering decisions.

A few things worth knowing upfront This is not a pure management role, nor is it a traditional system administration or operations position. It is a software engineering role in a cloud infrastructure environment, with technical leadership and team-building responsibilities.

The position is fully remote within the Czech Republic, with the option to work from a Prague office. You would collaborate with an established international engineering team.
