Senior Backend Engineer

We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join our platform team in Bengaluru, India. You will design, build, and operate the core services that power our product for millions of users. This is a hands-on engineering role with significant ownership over architecture, reliability, and performance.

Responsibilities include designing and implementing scalable backend services in Python, building and maintaining RESTful and event-driven APIs, and owning data models on PostgreSQL. You will work extensively with Redis for caching and queues, and deploy containerized workloads on Kubernetes. You will collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and data teams to ship features end to end.

We expect strong fundamentals in distributed systems, database design, and API development. You should be comfortable profiling and optimizing slow queries, designing schemas for scale, and reasoning about consistency and failure modes. Experience with message queues, background job processing, and observability tooling is important.

The ideal candidate has at least six years of professional software engineering experience, with deep expertise in Python and PostgreSQL, and production experience running services on Kubernetes. Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code is expected. You should have a track record of mentoring engineers and driving technical decisions.

Nice to have skills include Kafka, gRPC, Terraform, and experience with high-throughput data pipelines. Exposure to machine learning infrastructure or search systems is a plus. Above all, we want engineers who care about craftsmanship, write clean and tested code, and take pride in operating what they build.
