Senior Network Consulting Engineer (NCE) – Security

About the role We are looking for a Senior Network Consulting Engineer specialized in Security to act as the dedicated technical point of contact for a large enterprise customer operating a mission-critical, highly available network. This is a hybrid role with regular onsite presence at the customer's facilities in São Paulo; the onsite schedule may vary according to the customer's needs.

This is a long-term engagement where you will act as a trusted advisor, combining deep hands-on expertise in Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) with strong consulting, troubleshooting and communication skills.

You will be embedded in the customer's environment, understand how their business and operations work, and help them resolve critical issues faster, keep the network available and continuously improve operational efficiency.

What you will do

Problem resolution and escalations Act as the technical point of contact for escalations, providing hands-on troubleshooting for critical network outages and complex network and security issues. Serve as the bridge between the customer's operations and vendor support teams, maintaining detailed knowledge of the customer's network, critical sites and operational procedures so that escalations are handled with full context. Support engineering teams in root cause analysis, next steps and corrective action recommendations following critical incidents.

Technical reviews Lead periodic technical reviews covering the status of activities and deliverables, corrective action plans and priorities for the upcoming quarter. Prepare and support presentations on high-severity cases and defect trending. Help the customer plan and prioritize proactive recommendations and best practices. Perform software and patch evaluations (risk assessments, security advisories, bug reviews) to support upgrade and lifecycle decisions.

Knowledge transfer Deliver knowledge transfer sessions, product training and best-practice reviews to strengthen the troubleshooting skills of the customer's technical teams.

Maintenance window support Provide support during planned maintenance windows for changes and upgrades, which may occasionally take place outside business hours.

Core technical skills

• Strong hands-on expertise with Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and Cisco ISE.
• Advanced troubleshooting of network security, VPNs, routing and switching.
• Experience working escalations with vendor TAC and engineering teams.
• Solid understanding of patching strategies, upgrades and change management in mission-critical environments.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, APIs) is a plus.

Experience and certifications

• 7+ years of experience in network security engineering, including 5+ years working with Cisco Firepower and 5+ years with Cisco ISE.
• Proven experience in large-scale, enterprise, mission-critical environments.
• CCIE Security preferred; CCNP Security accepted with equivalent experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Fluent Portuguese and professional English.
