Senior Platform Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to support the development of an Integration Hub, built on Azure API Management (APIM) and Backstage, with the goal of evolving it into a modern Internal Developer Platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain Azure API Management, including API onboarding, routing, security and gateway policies.
• Develop and customise Backstage to improve the developer portal and API catalogue.
• Implement API validation, linting and quality standards using tools such as Spectral.
• Integrate automated validation into CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage infrastructure automation using Terraform, Bicep or similar tools.
• Troubleshoot platform issues and contribute to technical decisions and continuous improvements.

What We're Looking For

• Hands-on experience with Azure APIM or an equivalent API management platform.
• Experience with Backstage or similar developer portals.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, OpenAPI and API lifecycle management.
• Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js and React.
• Understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect and JWT.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication and technical ownership skills.

Desirable Experience

• Backstage plugin development and API catalog integrations.
• Azure Identity, Networking and Observability.
• Docker, Kubernetes and API linting tools such as Spectral.
