Senior Product Manager, AI

We have a clear, directional view of where AI can add real value for our customers, and we can already take an idea to a working prototype in weeks. What we don’t have yet is customer-facing AI in production. That’s the problem worth owning. As our Senior Product Manager, AI, you’ll turn that vision into the first AI features customers actually use, prove they deliver net revenue uplift, and set the patterns and building blocks every squad will reuse as AI becomes standard.

You’ll own the product side of AI, one of three clearly owned areas alongside Business (with our AI Enablement Lead) and Tech (with our CTO). Everything is built once by this central team and configured for each region, so what you ship goes live across Australia and the US.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the product AI roadmap: work with the Head of Product to turn our directional vision into the first features to build, prioritised by net revenue uplift (acquisition, retention, transaction volume, redemption margin), not novelty, and measure the outcomes.
  • Put AI where it adds value: work out where AI makes sense and where it doesn’t. Money movement needs deterministic, auditable rails, so AI goes where it adds customer value without adding risk. Shape how customers experience AI with pay.com.au, in our product and through the assistants and agents they already use.
  • Own delivery for a squad: be the PM for a squad, setting direction, prioritising and owning delivery outcomes, and take AI features from prototype to production: built once, centrally, and configured for each region.
  • Prototype, test and learn: prototype quickly yourself and build where it’s the fastest path, then work with Engineering to take it to production. Write the hypothesis, success measure and outcomes before you build; release to a small share of customers, measure, then scale or stop.
  • Define the shared building blocks: set the requirements for the first shared AI building blocks, and work with Engineering, who own the platform underneath (model access, evals, guardrails and auth), to make sure it meets product needs.
  • Help every squad build with AI: support other PMs and squads to build customer-facing AI features on the shared building blocks, share what works, set a consistent standard for AI experiences and help the team understand how these features work.

About You

  • Senior product experience: you’re an experienced senior PM with sound product judgement, prioritisation and stakeholder management, and you’ve shipped LLM features to real users in production, ideally in fintech.
  • Hands-on with AI: you can build and test prototypes yourself and work with engineers from real depth. You’ll write code where it’s the fastest path, but this role is about building product, not just writing code.
  • Commercially minded and outcome-focused: you size opportunities and measure uplift honestly, and you’d rather ship outcomes than explore open-endedly.
  • Comfortable shaping and doing: strategy one day, prompts, evals and edge cases the next. You’re collaborative, low ego and accountable end to end, and you can explain AI strategy clearly to executives and stakeholders across the business.
  • Nice to have, not required: fintech, payments or B2B/SMB SaaS experience (especially bill pay, payables, receivables, FX or rewards); agent frameworks, MCP or tool-use integrations, evals and guardrails; a product engineer or forward-deployed background; building across markets, ideally AU and US; data platforms such as Databricks and classic ML alongside GenAI; regulated environments and responsible use of customer data.

We know not everyone will meet every requirement, and that's okay. If you’re excited about the role and believe you can make an impact, we’re keen to hear from you.

A few more things...

Successful candidates joining the team will need to complete a National Police Record Check.

Candidates who require adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process are encouraged to let us know. We’re happy to support you.

We’re committed to an inclusive and diverse recruitment process where everyone feels respected and supported. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, identities and abilities and ensure fair, equitable consideration at every stage.
