Software Design & Development Engineer (LAB)

Role Description

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Software Design & Development Engineer to develop and maintain backend applications, automation utilities, APIs, databases, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering tools supporting client validation programs.

You will work in a Linux-based engineering environment and contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including feature development, testing, defect resolution, containerization, software delivery, and technical documentation.

What You Will Do

• Develop and maintain Python-based backend applications and engineering tools.
• Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs and Flask-based services.
• Implement new software features and enhancements based on project requirements.
• Investigate and resolve software defects and technical issues.
• Develop and maintain automation utilities supporting validation programs.
• Create and maintain unit, integration, functional, and end-to-end tests.
• Develop and support CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery workflows.
• Configure and maintain Linux development environments.
• Build and maintain Docker images for software applications and engineering tools.
• Develop and maintain PostgreSQL databases and related application integrations.
• Prepare and maintain OS images required for validation environments.
• Publish and manage software artifacts.
• Support source-control and development workflows using GitHub and GitLab.
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation.
• Ensure software development activities follow client development standards and engineering best practices.

What You Need

• Strong software development experience with Python.
• Hands-on experience developing backend applications and REST APIs.
• Experience with Flask or similar Python web frameworks.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and database-driven applications.
• Good knowledge of Linux development environments.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized applications.
• Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including:
• Unit testing
• Integration testing
• Functional testing
• End-to-end testing
• Experience working with GitHub and/or GitLab development workflows.
• Experience troubleshooting software defects and implementing fixes.
• Ability to create clear and structured technical documentation.

Nice To Have

• Experience developing software or automation solutions for validation or test environments.
• Experience with OS image preparation and management.
• Experience with software artifact publishing and management.
• Understanding of engineering automation and validation infrastructure.
