This role combines technical design, garment construction, pattern development, sample evaluation, material selection, and supplier coordination to ensure that apparel products meet design expectations, quality standards, fit requirements, and commercial production objectives.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

• Translate fashion concepts, design sketches, and creative briefs into detailed technical specifications for apparel development.
• Prepare and maintain technical packs, garment specification sheets, construction details, and measurement charts.
• Develop detailed tech packs containing fabric information, trims, stitching requirements, color references, labels, and finishing instructions.
• Collaborate with fashion designers, pattern makers, merchandisers, product developers, and production teams throughout the development process.
• Evaluate garment construction methods and recommend practical solutions to improve fit, durability, appearance, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Develop and review garment patterns, grading specifications, and size charts in collaboration with pattern-making specialists.
• Conduct fit sessions and evaluate prototypes, samples, and pre-production garments against approved specifications.
• Identify fit issues, measurement deviations, construction defects, and design inconsistencies during sample reviews.
• Provide clear technical comments and correction instructions to factories, sample rooms, and manufacturing partners.
• Coordinate sample development, prototype revisions, size-set approvals, and pre-production sample submissions.
• Ensure garment measurements and tolerances meet established specifications and brand standards.
• Recommend suitable fabrics, linings, trims, fasteners, threads, and other components based on product requirements.
• Evaluate fabric performance, stretch, drape, shrinkage, colorfastness, and durability where applicable.
• Work with sourcing and procurement teams to identify materials that meet quality, cost, availability, and sustainability requirements.
• Review garment construction details, seam types, stitching density, reinforcement methods, and finishing techniques.
• Ensure technical documentation is accurate, complete, and updated throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Coordinate color approvals, fabric testing, lab dips, print submissions, embroidery samples, and trim approvals.
• Support product costing by reviewing material consumption, construction complexity, manufacturing requirements, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with manufacturers to resolve technical challenges and improve production feasibility.
• Monitor product development timelines and ensure samples, approvals, and technical documents are delivered according to schedule.
• Conduct pre-production reviews to confirm that approved samples and specifications are ready for bulk manufacturing.
• Assist quality assurance teams in establishing garment inspection criteria and identifying critical quality checkpoints.
• Investigate recurring production defects and recommend corrective actions to improve garment consistency.
• Ensure apparel products comply with relevant labeling, product safety, restricted-substance, and market-specific requirements.
• Maintain organized records of approved samples, technical drawings, measurement data, revision histories, and material specifications.
• Use digital design tools to prepare technical flats, construction diagrams, and garment detail illustrations.
• Support the development of seasonal collections, new product categories, and garment innovation initiatives.
• Research apparel construction techniques, emerging materials, fit trends, and manufacturing technologies.
• Recommend improvements to product development workflows, sample approval procedures, and technical communication.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between design intent, technical feasibility, production capabilities, and delivery schedules.
• Provide technical guidance to junior designers, product developers, and other team members when required.

✅ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Apparel Technology, Garment Manufacturing, Textile Technology, or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional experience in technical design, apparel development, garment production, or product engineering.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern development, grading, fitting, and apparel manufacturing processes.
• Experience preparing technical packs, measurement charts, construction specifications, and product development documentation.
• Ability to interpret fashion sketches and convert design concepts into production-ready technical instructions.
• Practical experience conducting fit sessions, reviewing samples, and communicating garment corrections.
• Strong knowledge of fabrics, trims, garment components, textile characteristics, and material performance.
• Familiarity with size specifications, measurement tolerances, grading rules, and fit standards across different apparel categories.
• Understanding of sewing techniques, seam construction, garment finishing, and quality control procedures.
• Proficiency in fashion design and technical drawing software, such as Adobe Illustrator, CLO 3D, Gerber, Lectra, or comparable tools.
• Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and digital product development workflows is advantageous.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, construction diagrams, and manufacturing specifications accurately.
